The rapid development of technology poses a challenge for the average gamer. Keeping up with high-end PC setups required for the best experience in newly released games is becoming increasingly difficult and expensive. Some development studios tried to address this by releasing “lightweight” versions for weaker systems. However, in the case of online games (such as battle royale titles), this is a costly process and unnecessarily occupies server space that does not reach the desired player capacity.
The beta launch of PUBG LITE in 2019 received some attention, but for most of the player base, it was irrelevant – mainly because they had PCs powerful enough to run the “full” version. It’s no surprise, then, that two years later, in 2021, PUBG LITE was officially discontinued. The mobile version, PUBG MOBILE, also has a LITE version available today, designed for users with weaker Android phones and still active. However, it’s important not to confuse PUBG LITE with PUBG MOBILE LITE. One of the most popular battle royale titles ever has been completely free for users of all devices since 2022, which has led to a revival and increased player interest in recent years. Its esports scene has experienced a resurgence, but unfortunately, cracks in gameplay and graphics, due to time and unstoppable progress, are already visible. How long the game will remain active is hard to say, but the mobile version, PUBG MOBILE, is currently thriving.
