Whether players with a placed ticket win or not is often in the hands of fate, so it all depends on which side luck decides to take this time. To win the highest possible prize, players must match as many of their chosen numbers with the drawn ones as possible. However, their final prize can be determined by the bonus number, which may secure a win worth several hundred thousand crowns (up to €10,000).
Once players submit a completed ticket, all they can do is wait for the draw results. They then compare the drawn numbers with their own picks and win based on how many numbers they guessed correctly. To win the lowest prize, it is enough to guess 3 out of 6 numbers correctly. The bonus number is the seventh number drawn and is used to determine the final prize ranking of the ticket with winning numbers.

The bonus number is drawn in one of Sazka’s most popular lottery games – Sportka. In this game, players choose 6 numbers from a range of 1 to 49, and in addition to the winning set of six numbers, a seventh number is drawn as the bonus. To win the top prize, players must correctly guess all 6 numbers. The bonus number is important for achieving the second prize level.

As mentioned above, the bonus number directly influences which prize tier the player with a winning ticket achieves. Depending on whether they guessed the bonus number correctly or not, they can win either the second or third prize tier. For lower prize levels, the bonus number is not needed at all. However, the difference between the second and third prize tiers — even though the same number of main numbers must be guessed — can be significant, reaching up to several hundred thousand crowns (around €10,000).
In Sportka, players do not bet on the bonus number separately. It is not an individual number to be filled into a special box or selected from a separate column. In each column, players always choose 6 numbers for their chosen draw. During the draw, six winning numbers are drawn first, followed by a seventh number drawn as the bonus. If this bonus number matches the sixth drawn number of the player, they win a much higher reward.
In this lottery game, there are five prize tiers offering generous winnings. On top of that, players can compete for the Superjackpot, which usually reaches tens or even hundreds of millions of crowns (up to €4,000,000). The first prize tier, or Jackpot, typically offers multimillion prizes, and the second tier offers hundreds of thousands. The third, fourth, and fifth prize tiers come with noticeably smaller rewards, decreasing from tens of thousands down to just a few hundred crowns.
However, Sportka winnings constantly change. Their final amount is affected by the stake size and the number of winners. Players can always check how much money is currently in play on Sazka’s website, in their mobile app under the Sportka section, or in person at any branch. The final payout may be reduced if multiple players hit the same result, as winnings are always distributed from the prize fund.
To have a chance at winning the Superjackpot, players must meet more conditions than just guessing six numbers from 1 to 49. To qualify for the top premium prize, they must place a fully completed ticket (all 10 columns), and also take part in the supplementary game “Šance”, where numbers from 1 to 10 are drawn. Only players who correctly guess all six numbers plus the number drawn in the Šance game can win the Superjackpot.
In this supplementary game, players do not select their own numbers. When betting online, the numbers are automatically generated by the system, and players have the option to generate new ones. However, they cannot influence the exact numbers or their order. When betting at a branch, the code is pre-printed on the paper ticket and cannot be changed. To take part in this bonus game, they must leave the checkbox for the game empty, or check it in the online form to confirm participation and pay an additional €1.

Winnings from lotteries are subject to taxation like other types of income. As of January 1, 2024, there has been a reduction in the tax-exempt limit for income from gambling from the original one million crowns to€2,000. From now on, all winnings exceeding this threshold will be reduced by a 15% withholding tax. However, players are not required to report or pay this tax themselves, as it is withheld directly by the lottery operator, who submits it on their behalf.
Individual winnings are not aggregated within one tax period, which means that each winning is taxed separately. So, if during a single tax year you win €1610, €1210, and €1610 (a total of €4010), none of these winnings will be taxed, because each stays below the €2,000 threshold.
