Sportka is a legendary game with the largest number of millionaires in the Czech Republic, which is why it is very popular.
Sportka is one of the most famous lottery games in the Czech Republic, and it is operated by SAZKA a.s. The game’s principle is to guess 6 numbers out of 49. The draw takes place three times a week – every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday at 8:00 PM. The maximum prize in Sportka is in the range of hundreds of millions of crowns, and the chance of winning the main prize (Jackpot) in one draw is 0.0000000715%.
In 1953, two lotteries operated in the territory of the then Czechoslovakia. Unfortunately, they were abolished the same year. The abolition of the lotteries did not have the desired effect. People missed the excitement and started playing illegally. Some people turned to sports, resulting in the issuance of a charter for the company SAZKA, which began its activities in 1956. SPORTKA as such was founded in 1955 in Germany. The first SPORTKA draw in our country took place on April 22, 1957. The price of one bet was 3 crowns, and half of the stakes went to the prizes.
In 1957, the maximum prize in SPORTKA was around 40,000 crowns. Jackpot was introduced in 1993, and Superjackpot in 2010. Since its inception, more than 8,500 draws have taken place in Sportka. The highest historical prize fell on November 3, 2013, reaching nearly 400 million crowns.

You can place a bet online through the Sazka app or at retail locations. If you want to bet online, you need to register with Sazka. Registration is easy and takes only a few minutes. Retail locations can be found in almost all newsagents, gas stations, or selected post offices.
The principle of the game is to guess 6 numbers out of 49. Each bet slip contains 10 columns. In each column, you check the 6 numbers you choose. The more columns you check, the higher your chances of winning. If you don’t know which numbers to choose, you can try a random tip. The terminal will select the numbers for you. On a classic paper bet slip, you choose the day of the draw. It can be Wednesday, Friday, or Sunday. You can bet on all days at once or on two consecutive days. If it is a special game, a separate bet slip is required. The price of a full ticket including ŠANCE and SUPERJACKPOT is €10.
Many bettors also use the option of a system bet. What is a system bet? A system bet places all combinations of your chosen numbers. You can choose how many combinations of your numbers you want to bet and whether you also use additional games or play for the Jackpot. In practice, this means that if you choose your 8 lucky numbers, the system will create all combinations that can be made from these 8 numbers. Specifically, this means 28 bet combinations.
Bettors can also participate in the supplementary lottery Sportka Premium. The condition for participation in this supplementary game is placing a full ticket including Šance. In 2023, you could win a car worth up to €100,000, an electric bike worth up to €6,000, a SMART TV (worth up to €2,000), or one of the cash prizes up to €200,000.
Šance is a supplementary game in Sportka that can bring you additional millions. The principle of this game is to bet on the last 6 numbers of the serial number of your ticket. If your number matches the drawn six-digit number, you can win an amount of nearly two million crowns. The size of the prize depends on the number of guessed numbers. It is important to note that you check the Šance box on your ticket if you do not want to participate in this supplementary game. The price of this supplementary game is €1.
If you want to play for the Superjackpot, you need to place a full ticket for €10. Another condition is to guess all the drawn numbers in the first or second draw. If you are aiming for the Superjackpot, it is also necessary to hit at least the last number of the supplementary Šance game. The Superjackpot grows with each unsuccessful tip, averaging €200,000 per week.
Sportka rules are quite simple, and most of us know them well. On a purchased ticket or through the app, you select 6 chosen numbers out of 49. Each ticket contains ten columns, meaning you select your chosen six numbers in each column you are willing to pay for. The price of one column is €1. The selected numbers are marked with a cross. Some people bet their favorite numbers their whole life, which mean something to them. Others prefer a random tip.
In addition to the numbers, it is also important to choose the day you want to participate in the lottery. The draw takes place every Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. Six numbers and one additional number are drawn each time – both in the first and second draw. The additional number determines whether the bettor wins in the second or third tier. If the bettor guesses five numbers and their sixth number matches the additional number, they win in the second tier. If they guess only five numbers, they win in the third tier.
If the Superjackpot of Sportka exceeds the value of €6,000,000, €4,000,000 is transferred to the so-called Bonus Fund. From this fund, 5 prizes of €40,000 each will be distributed over twenty consecutive draws.
The condition for participating in this game is to purchase a full ticket for €10. The player does not need to register separately for the competition. You can also participate in the draw personally in the Pokrok studio.
The live broadcast of these draws can be watched via Czech Television every Wednesday, Friday, or Sunday at 8:00 PM.
Individual prizes depend on how many numbers you guess, meaning whether your chosen numbers match the drawn numbers. The more numbers you guess, the higher your prize. If you want to win the Superjackpot, you must guess 6 numbers + the final number from the Šance game. The condition is to place a full ticket. The average prize in the Superjackpot is €5,470,000.
If you are aiming for the Jackpot, you need to guess 6 numbers in one column. Winning the Jackpot is not conditional on placing a full ticket. The average amount you can win in the Jackpot is €615,000 (comparable to the 2nd tier in Eurojackpot). This is the so-called first tier.
In the second tier, you can win an average amount of €33,000 if you guess 5 numbers and one additional number. To win in the third tier, you need to guess 5 numbers. The average prize in the third tier is around €1,000. If you find that you have guessed 4 numbers on your ticket, you win the amount for the fourth tier, which averages €25. The last prize tier is the fifth, where you need to guess three numbers, and the prize averages around €5.

Lottery winnings are taxed like other income. From January 1, 2024, the limit for tax exemption on gambling winnings was reduced from the original one million to CZK 50,000. Newly, all winnings exceeding this limit will be reduced by a 15% withholding tax. However, players have no obligation to report or pay this tax, as the lottery company will withhold and pay the tax on their behalf.
Individual winnings within one tax period are not summed up, meaning each win is taxed separately. Therefore, if you win CZK 40,000, CZK 30,000, and CZK 40,000 (a total of CZK 110,000) on three lottery tickets in one tax period, the winnings will not be taxed as each falls within the CZK 50,000 exemption limit.
The first step to winning is to place a full ticket for CZK 220 including Šance. The Superjackpot is yours if you guess all 6 numbers and the final number from the Šance game.
You can claim your prize in the Sportka game up to 365 days from the draw in which you won.
The odds of winning the Superjackpot are about 69,919,080: 1.
You can submit a ticket for the Sportka lottery on the day of the draw no later than 7:00 PM.
For each completed column, players pay CZK 20, and the same for the supplementary Šance game. If they submit a full ticket (all ten columns) and Šance, they pay a total of CZK 220 for their bet.
